The long-awaited racing season of 2018 began on Easter Sunday, 1st of April, in Kincsem Park. The opening day ended with the victory of our filly, Faster Now, who earned the first success of the year for our stud.
We started the 2018 racing season with 35 racehorses at our trainers and 31 racehorses who are in leasing. All of them were bred and raised in our Dióspuszta Thoroughbred Stud.
Two three-year-old offspring by Overdose ran in the 1200 m Maiden Race. Rose Fire (Overdose – Rainfire) – who is leased by Attila Rácz – became second with Csenge Suták, and Cirfandli (Overdose – Chiaraluna), trained by Ferenc Csupor, was third with Lajos Fejes jr.
The four-year-old Sunnykid (Steady As A Rock – Sunny Girl), trained by Róbert Fézer, were placed second after a good run in the Class 1 Spring Handicap over 2000 m with Zdenko Smida.
Lovely Rock (Steady As A Rock – Lovely Black), who is leased, trained and ridden by Mónika Szalai, became second in the 1900 m Handicap of the “Time Travelers on Bicycle”.
In the main race of the day, the 1200 m Class 1 Pestmegyei Handicap, Juniperus (Fairlypi – Jubilantka) became third with Tamás Nagy from the training of Csaba Zala.
The last race was the Mogyoród Handicap over 1400 meters with three of our horses. Faster Now (Pastoral Pursuits – First Fast Now), trained by Róbert Fézer, won easily with Gábor Paizs, while La Primera (Fairlypi – Lacrima Rosa), from the training of Ferenc Csupor, came home second with Mátyás Varga. The fifth place went to Allegro (Overdose – Allonya), who is leased and trained by Csaba Zala, ridden by Tamás Nagy.
The number of our horses in leasing is increasing. The leasing opportunity is open for anyone in Hungary. The rent is defined by a % of the prize money. Most of the owners choose racehorses as yearlings, as they can build up their career from the beginning. We will organize our traditional Open Day in our Dióspuszta Thoroughbred Stud at the end of summer, where some of our yearlings can be leased to Hungarian trainers.
Until then, there are several races for the horses of our stud, as we are present on every weekend in Kincsem Park. The most important fixtures of the first part of the year are: 6 May (1000 and 2000 Guineas – Nemzeti Prize and Hazafi Prize), 27 May (Millennium Prize), 2 June (Alag Prize) and of course 1 July, the day of the 96th Hungarian Derby.
